We visited to celebrate a birthday and happened to be the only attendees that day, which made for a surprisingly intimate and personal experience. It set a great tone from the start.
Tammi, the founder, was welcoming and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with.
Beyond her personality, what impressed us most was her depth of knowledge — she walked us through the science and craft behind scent mixing, color blending, and candle making with real expertise.
She helped me develop a color for my candle that I wouldn't have arrived at on my own, and the result exceeded what I had envisioned.
She guided us through each step thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace, while also giving us plenty of space to explore our options, have our own conversations, and make decisions without feeling rushed. She took photos and videos for us throughout the session, which was a considerate and unexpected gesture.
To close out the experience, we decorated the tops of our candles with crystals and each received a card documenting our candle name, the crystals we selected, and our full scent blend — a personal keepsake that was a nice touch.
Tammi also took time to cover proper candle care and explain the distinctions between non-toxic and toxic candles, including what to look for when purchasing in the future. It was practical, useful information that added real value to the visit.
Overall, a well-run and genuinely enjoyable experience.
We would highly recommend it for a birthday, a special occasion, or anyone simply looking for something a little different to do.
i absolutely LOVED candlelux. my mom and i did this together and had a great time. tammi was awesome and you can tell how knowledgeable and passionate she is. she was a great instructor and explained everything very well. there were a lot of different scents to choose from and everything is also natural including the colors! i definitely want to come back to try her perfume making class as well. this was an amazing experience and i would highly recommend anyone to come here!!
Tammy hosted us, and it was immediately clear this wasn’t just a job for her. She was passionate and deeply educated in the candle-making process, walking us through it with real care. At one point she shared the personal journey that led them to create Candelux in the first place, and it landed. You could feel that this craft meant something to her, that every candle that left that room carried a piece of why she started making them.
Then came the fun part: choosing our scents. Neither of us expected how many combinations were possible between the essential oils and fragrances laid out in front of us. We tested, reconsidered, tested again and eventually landed on two. Michelle chose Sage and cypress + grapefruit. I went with Oak moss and amber + white eucalyptus and, honestly, we were both stunned by how good they smelled. We picked our vessels, mixed our oils, set the wicks, and poured.
While the candles cured, we didn’t sit and wait. We wandered Newbury Street, ducking into a few shops, letting the twenty minutes stretch into its own small moment together. By the time we came back, our candles were set, and a wonderful experience had come to a close.
Five stars, easily. Candelux is the kind of date that works for a couple or a group of friends . It slows you down, puts you in a room together with no distractions, and gives you something tangible to take home. We look forward to our new scents warming our home, and will definitely plan to return. Thanks Tammy!
Went to candle lux with my best friend and we both lovvvved it! As you are diying your candle you get to learn about it as well! Tammy was very nice and a great teacher!
I just recently took my first trip here with my girlfriend and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. We were fortunate enough to be the only two to have the time booked so we had a lovely “private session” with Tammy but she made us feel right at home the whole time. She is the best and taught us so much about candles, you can tell just how passionate she is about this art. Will definitely be returning again!
