Came here for a birthday celebration and it was such an amazing experience from start to finish. I absolutely love the setup here. The owner and all the regulars were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It really feels like a true community spot. They have a large outdoor area with picnic tables, which was perfect for hanging out and enjoying the food. We ordered the three meat platter with two sides for around $50, and it was more than enough for two people to split with leftovers to bring home. We got the brisket, rib tips, and tri-tip, along with the mac & cheese and barbecue beans. Everything was absolutely delicious. Honestly, this is hands down some of the best barbecue in San Diego. They even provided plates and forks for the birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also had a TV set up for the games, which added to the fun atmosphere. Really loved the experience, the food, and the welcoming environment here. Can’t wait to come back. Side note, they sell out of ribs pretty quickly. They were out around 4 PM so make sure you arrive early. I heard they were delicious!

Bowlegged BBQ was so good. I had the sampler plate with tri-tip, brisket, and rib tips, plus greens, cornbread, and a side of barbecue spaghetti. Everything was flavorful, but the barbecue spaghetti was easily my favorite. I had never had anything like it before, and I’ll definitely be back for that alone. The rib tips and brisket were standouts too, and the cornbread had a soft, cake-like texture while still tasting like cornbread. I also loved being able to support a Black-owned business. The service was excellent, the music and playlist really set the tone, and the artwork added to the whole cookout vibe. Everyone was welcoming and attentive, always checking in to make sure we had what we needed. Definitely worth checking out.

I first found this place on Yelp and decided to try when in the area. Even at around 2PM, it was still very busy and a line forming. The food was very good. In my opinion, the meat here is one of the top, but not the most impressive I’ve had. BUT, it definitely had its own flavor profile and there was very slight kick. The sides were phenomenal with the Mac n cheese having that sharp cheese flavor that makes it unique. The portions were very big and the price was reasonable. The service was phenomenal. It was only one person taking all the orders for a while and juggling to-gos, but she was still very friendly and took the time to check on everybody. They have seating in the back and it is very much like somebody’s backyard. It seemed like a very vibrant community and was casual.

If you’re looking for soul food and good atmosphere this is your new favorite restaurant. My girlfriend and I came here on a whim after craving soul food and it paid off. I got the rib meal and my girlfriend got the chicken meal. I preferred her food over mine but my food was still good. The chicken was well seasoned and macaroni was a good blend seasoned and cheesy with a hint of kick to it. The ribs and the cornbread leave a bit to be desired but they were still good just not the stars of the meal. The atmosphere gives a cookout vibe at granny’s house. From the inside where you order there’s black art to give you something to look at while you wait for your food. Keeping the theme there are also a plethora of older vinyl records from artists like the temptations and Michael Jackson to name a few. Outdoor seating with shading and the game playing on the tvs outside in the seating area, this place will see us again.

I finally found a place that makes the potato salad the way I do! This is the place, takes me back to my home state.... The food is amazing 🤩. This place is pricey, but they do serve Texas size portions, which makes it worth it. I will definitely return and happily support a family run business that actually serves good BBQ. Only downside is Good Luck finding parking!
