My partner and I had finished running errands and decided to check out His & Hers for Saturday brunch. I mentioned to my partner that I had previously seen the restaurant featured on Kitchen Commando on TV One. We called ahead to ask if reservations were needed and were told there was no wait. We lucked up and found parking about a block away on a residential street, which honestly felt like a miracle considering DC’s notoriously terrible parking situation. When we walked into the restaurant, we were surprised to find that we were the only customers there, but we still wanted to give it a chance. The server welcomed us warmly, told us to sit wherever we liked, and quickly brought out menus and water. We ordered the Fish and Grits and The Hangry Platter. Both dishes were well-seasoned, the portions were satisfying without being overwhelming, and the food felt worth the price. Another thing we appreciated was that they don’t serve pork products. The only real downside was the additional mandatory fees added to the bill. The restaurant automatically includes two separate 10% fees on top of the total, which made the final bill feel much more expensive than expected.

Group of two, ordering brunch, and there was approximately 1 other table dining at time of visit. We ordered avocado toast with a sunny side egg & steak and eggs - it took approximately 35 mins to receive the food. The food was well seasoned and felt like good quality ingredients but the steak was over cooked; i ordered medium but it was well done. I thought the prices were fair until, i noticed a 20% “service” charge, which i thought was gratuity, so i asked. The waiter said “it’s not a tip, the restaurant keeps it”… not sure if that is normal in the DMV but seems shady. If you want to charge 20% up your prices on the menu…. Still left them a tip but c’mon

This restaurant was a 10 out of 10. Our waitress Aniyah (sorry if that’s wrong) was sweet. She gave us shot for my bday. The crab stuffed salmon was delicious. The seafood rice could have been a dish by itself. To top it off, we met a local who is a regular that bought us a drink on our way out..

Do not miss this spot!!! The food was INCREDIBLE! I am obsessed! I got the Cajun Pasta with steak, and my husband got the sliders and catfish tenders. Everything was delicious. Their cocktails were yummy, and they're served strong! The staff were all so sweet and kind, and we even were talked to by the owner. I am definitely going back before we head home to AVL.

The service and vibe were fine, but that’s where the positives end. The drinks were disappointing across the board—flat, unbalanced, and not enjoyable. What really threw us off, though, was the water. It tasted awful, like something was seriously wrong with the plumbing or filtration. That alone was enough to make us question the place, and after trying a couple of cocktails, we decided not to risk ordering any food. If they can’t get the basics right, it doesn’t inspire much confidence in the rest of the menu.
